about me
Sandra Lehnis was born in Switzerland and now lives and works in Mallorca. Her artistic training began classically in Switzerland; later, in Rome, she deepened her knowledge of printmaking techniques — a period that continues to shape her approach to this day. Even in painting, Lehnis often thinks like a printmaker: in reduction, in repetition, in carefully measured intervals.
Out of this sensibility, several series have emerged over the years — among them Writings | Schriften, an exploration of lines and dots as a language of their own, and Logos, in which grains of sand meet in precise intervals on canvas or paper. Her encounter with the work of Agnes Martin, and her radical art of reduction, has been a lasting influence on this path.
Since 2005, Lehnis has also been developing the ongoing series Perlen aus Mallorca: small-format mixed-media works measuring 10×10 cm, now numbering over 500 pieces — a continuous, meditative body of work within her wider practice.
Lehnis works primarily in acrylic and mixed media on canvas or paper. Her work has been exhibited internationally.
